The Mograbi Lab focuses its research on self-awareness processes, exploring these phenomena by taking an experimental neuropsychology / affective & cognitive neuroscience approach, working with healthy adults, clinical conditions and psychoactive substances. Our main goal is to produce socially responsible research that can improve our understanding of human experience and have a positive impact on people's lives. We are also committed to popularizing science to the general public. We hope you find our work stimulating. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you want to know more about it.
Some of our studies investigate how structural changes in the brain are linked to alterations in self-awareness. In particular, processes such as anosognosia, error monitoring, metacognition and emotional regulation are explored in people with dementia, epilepsy and brain tumors. Selfhood in dementia is another topic of our research.
We investigate the relationship between mood disorders and self-awareness, in conditions such as bipolar disorder and depression, including how self-awareness can be a mediator of clinical improvement. Dissociative processes are also explored in some of our studies.
The impact of alexithymia and beliefs in the expression of emotions and feelings is one of our themes of research. We also investigate implicit emotional processing.
We explore how psychoactive substances, including psychedelics, may have an impact on different self-awareness processes. Changes in self processes and the phenomenon of ego dissolution are also investigated.
